New broadband router to improve signal….. it’s worse! Help

We were struggling to get stable WiFi connection in a couple of rooms, I called sky with a view that they would supply some kind of extender. I was persuaded that a new max router would do the trick.... since setting up I now have really poor signal in ALL rooms, help me! It's so frustrating
