New apartment, no landline, no installation offered when subscribing to Sky.
Hi everyone. I really need help as I think I am going crazy. My partner and I are moving in our new apartment and, through the goodlord service that the estate agent used throughout the renting and referencing process we had an offer for sky broadband (+netflix) so we went for it. In filling in the informations it wasn't offer an installation but it says online that if we don't have a landline it won't work so I don't know what to do/expect and wouldn't want to have extra costs. We both need internet for work and I am trying to understand what to do.
Thank you.

Re: New apartment, no landline, no installation offered when subscribing to Sky.
There certainly needs to be a data bearer cable of some kind.
Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.
Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

It is possible that the master socket has been removed by contractors at some point. If this is the case Openreach will still assume there is a socket at the property so no install will be booked in.
If this is the case then you'd need to wait until activation day then call and say there is no socket.

Yes: the Wholesale lookup will show if Openreach thinks there's a master socket, an existing ONT which a previous occupant has taken away when they moved out, or a new FTTP installation to be carried out.

There's typically no cost for installation, but you'd need the landlords permission for drilling, and might encounter additional delay.

@LauHachi Openreach think there is a line but if there isn't a master socket then it will need one to be fitted. That is all quite routine but the extra work may cause a delay

The table shows very good FTTC is available, but not FTTP. Unfortunately you may need to wait until the activation date has passed before Sky will accept a fault report and book Openreach attendance.
It might be worth looking around both inside and outside the property for evidence of a copper phone line.

Does this mean we won't have internet? I really struggle to understand, I am so sorry. 😕

You likely wont have internet on activation day no. But a quick call to Sky after activation will have them send Openreach to your flat to sort it all out.

Thank you. Hopefully we will be able to sort something out. Any suggestion to what we could do in the meantime to have connection of some sort?
