New Skyhub box not working with existing Ethernet cable
Hi,
Recently changed from TalkTalk where I had an Ethernet connection from the router in my house direct buried to my outhouse 20 metres away. Every thing worked fine. The Ethernet cable was only installed 2 years ago.
I have now had fibre installed and the Sky Hub in the same location as before.
The Skyhub works in my house but doesn't connect to my outhouse with my existing Ethernet cable. Changing the cable isn't an option as it's direct buried under a new garden!
Whilst I don't believe the issue is with the Ethernet cable can someone advise how to troubleshoot this?
How could I test the Ethernet cable end to end?
Is there any known compatibility issues with the Skyhub and Ethernet cables?
This is driving me insane.
thanks
Steven

Re: New Skyhub box not working with existing Ethernet cable
Edit:
There's are 3 ports on the hub. 1 and 2 is for CCTV, 3 is to my outhouse.
Port 1 is inactive. Port 2 is active. Port 3 is inactive.
How can I activate these?

Re: New Skyhub box not working with existing Ethernet cable
All ports on a Hub should be 'active'.
While I don't understand what's going on, one possible workaround would be to acquire a cheap unmanaged ethernet switch and put that on the port you've found to be working, with your household cable runs plugged into the switch.

Re: New Skyhub box not working with existing Ethernet cable
Thanks.
I just switched the CCTV cable that was working to port 3 and the cable to my outhouse to port 2. Port 3 became active and port 2 became inactive.
any suggestions on the unmanaged switch?

Personally I use eight-port Netgear gigabit units because the metal cases are more robust than the plastic used by some competitors.
