New Sky broadband after moving existing service

Appreciate this might not be a common scenario but cannot be unique and what Sky are saying sounds ridiculous....

Going through separation with my ex and the broadband (with BT) is in my name. I'm getting a new house and have submitted a home move for a week today.

My ex ordered Sky broadband a couple of weeks ago but they have just cancelled her order and said she has to wait until after BT has been transferred before she can place a new order and then it'll likely be 10-14 days for activation.

I don't see how this is really any different from 2 people moving house on the same day? Surely one party wouldn't be without service for 2 weeks??? For clarity we had BT 900 so nothing for open reach to do.

This sounds like nonsense. Can anyone clarify please?

Sky are right. Two services cannot be active on the same line. Openreach would likely reject the order until your BT service has been moved.

But they wouldn't be active at the same time. BT is being transferred on 5th, she ordered Sky to start on 6th.

I know, its backwards thinking but if there is an active service on and another one is ordered, even if the dates dont overlap it will likely be rejected.
