Hi
We have just ordered Sky Broadband moving over from BT. We had 4 BT range extenders that were part of thier WHOLE HOME solution.
we have purchased the Wi-Fi Booster package with Sky do they run off of discs simulate and do you think we can get these sent with the order or is it difficult to sort out once we switch over ?
Any thoughts or help would be great 👍

Thanks for the response
So we get switched over and then see how many boosters we might need - I purchased the Wi-Fi boost package 👍👍

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Gemma0880 do you still have the BT range extenders? There are 2 types the white ones will work with any router. The black type are BT only.

Just to confuse things further, the new black WiFi 6 disks do work with other ISPs: it's the much more common 802.11ac ones which don't.

Hi
we still have the discs but we got them free from BT so they will probably want them back (possibly)

We made some changes to our Terms & Conditions on 13 December 2019, meaning that BT Hubs and BT TV boxes are being loaned to you. So if you joined us or have renewed your contract on or after this date, you’ll be charged for not returning equipment to us. You’ll have 60 days to return it from the date you stopped using it before we charge you.
So you know what you need to return and when, we'll be in touch with details. Or you can find the same information by logging into My BT and clicking on Return equipment.
Different amounts will be charged depending on the type of BT Hub or BT TV Box you have.
Please note that our BT Complete Wi-Fi discs have always been on loan to you, so these will need to be returned to us as well.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAs @Chrisee noted above, the standard Complete WiFi black 802.11ac disks don't work with any ISP except BT. It's the new WiFi 6 model they've recently started selling (not loaning) that does.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Gemma0880 sounds like you may need to invest in a whole home wifi system to replace your discs. Sky's boosters can work but they are not ideal. Not sure how many Sky will give you as part of the Boiosr but I think its only 2 and they are not as good as BT's discs apparently. Sky are definitely lagging in this area.
I bought a simple third party system of online which cost £100 which I use use set up as Access Points and have the Hub's wifi switched off. BT's white discs are used by several forum members who seem happy.
