New Sky 4.2 hub won't connect to Ring doorbell

Had a new 4.2 hub installed yesterday.  Going round connecting devices and can't get our Ring doorbell to connect despite following the instructions on their app. I believe this might be something to do with the doorbell needing it to be on 2.4 but not sure how I check that, or any other support or advice appreciated. Thanks in advance

@LisaG2 the recent models of Ring devices do not need the WiFi bands splitting despite only using the 2.4GHz band as the earlier ones did. The  doorbell and the device running the app have to be quite close to get the doorbell to pick up the detail of the log in. However if your doorbell is an older one these are the instructions Split Sky WiFi bands

Thanks it is an older doorbell so probably does need the split frequency.  If I do that will it have other implications on the service and will I need to reconnect all my other devices (already had trouble connecting the printer but finally managed it lol) ?

@LisaG2

Easiest way would have been to rename the WiFi SSID on the new router to match the old one, but too late now.

Just rename the 5GHz band by adding _5 to the default name. That way it will be obvious which band you're connecting to & any previous connections made today should remain connected to the default SSID.

Can't seem to log in. Presuming the 4.2 hub should be admin & then wifi password?

Should be, yes.

Are you getting as far as the status page, as that doesn't need the password?

Yes I get to the status page then when I click on any of the tabs at the top I have to sign in. I've tried with the <> either side of the password and without and admin and Admin. Thanks for your help

@LisaG2 just type the default wifi password even if you have changed the password to connect devices.

Re: New Sky 4.2 hub won't connect to Ring doorbell

Curious about <> reference, where are you seeing that?

Have you ever succesfully logged into this one? Your browser isn't maybe trying to autofill the password for the previous one?

Maybe try a factory reset using the button on the back. You need to hold it in with a pen or similar until the power light flashes, which can take a while.

Thanks managed to log on now. The <> were on the instructions linked above. I'm presuming if I split the 2 frequencies and have any issues I would be able go combine again ? Bit nervous about mucking my broadband up over Xmas. Family might kill me lol

Re: New Sky 4.2 hub won't connect to Ring doorbell

You could although a factory reset would also achieve the same thing. That's why it's best to leave the 2.4GHz on the default SSID, as you can always default to that with a reset & everything not specifically on the 5GHz SSID will carry on working.

Sky helped me. Went into wufi settings and set to WPA2. Turned if router and doorbell. Connected no problem. WPA3 upwards doesn't seem to work with ring.

@D3NMU the WiFi security fix only applies to the latest white hubs. This thread was discussing the okder black hub which only goes up to WPA2 .
