I have just bought a new HP laptop that came with free 30 days McAfee cover, thus has now expired and it wont recognise that I have cover from Sky

You can get mcafee total protection for 10 devices for £27.49per year direct. for 2 years . Cancel the sky subscription and go direct thru mcefee
Sky Stream , Sky Superfast, SR203 router, Tp link td w9970 + Asus RT AX58U (backup), Xbox Series X, google home mini, LG 55 inch uhd tv, with Dolbyvision, samsung a5 2017 and samsung s21

Sky have long since dropped Mafee total protection. You should be able to renew your subscription online thru mcafee themselves

For installations of a McAfee bundle downloaded from Sky years ago. There's no mechanism within Sky for McAfee subscription management any more and hasn't been for a considerable time.

Or even consider whether desktop 'antivirus protection' is still a relevant concept, given there hasn't been a computer virus (which is not the same thing as user-installed malware) for at least a decade.
