I've recently bought a middle terraced property and am looking to get broadband.
I have checked with my neighbours on either side of my house in the same terrace, and they both say they can get Sky Superfast 35 broadband.
When I checked the quotes for my property, I can only get Essentials Plus (5-11mb) which is not fast enough for my requirements.
It seems odd that the neighbours at either side of my property would be able to get much faster connections, so I'm just wondering what is likely to be going on with that, and if it is something that Sky would be able to resolve?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@DigitalpeanutIf you look up at the top-right it says waiting list. So this is why you are unable to get a faster speed at this time. Keep an eye on this page and if you then see " Available ", then you should be able to order faster speed broadband.

Thanks. Is there anywhere I can get details on how long the list is, or how long the expected wait time would be?

There are no lists available and only BT and Plusnet will place orders that will added to the list. Since Openreach are pushing the FTTP rollout, FTTC cabinet expansion seem to be taking longer.
When I moved I managed to get the last spare port on the cabinet and it was about 17 months before Openreach sorted it.
If you need to get online it would be best to get ADSL and upgrade when FTTC is available again.

AFAIK there is no further expansion of FTTC cabinets planned unless funded by BDUK.
Pretty sure Plusnet don't do the waiting list either - its just BT retail because frankly its a complete shambles.

Presumably because only BT and Kingston Communication are named as USO providers, even though Plusnet (and EE) are BT with different badges.

Well because its actually BT wholesale who originally setup the waiting list, not Openreach and because Plusnet couldn't organise the proverbial drinking session in a brewery (their systems are 10-15 years old and BT are going to close them down "soon" because they lose money hand over fist).
No idea about Kingston, never had any contact with them on any matter.
Basically if you're on a BT cabinet and it has a waiting list then you're out of luck unless its either a BDUK cabinet or you live in an area that's mainly rentals and you check availability at least every single day.

Thanks everyone for your input. As luck would have it, I checked the broadband checker this morning and it said "Available". Sky's quote is now showing Superfast 35 so I placed my order 😄

Kingston Communication (now KCOM) always get included by name because thanks to a historical anomaly going back a century they are the monopoly landline telecoms provider for the city of Kingston upon Hull, which is unique within the UK in having no Openreach/BT Wholesale provision at all for a population of 260,000.
