If you are happy with your Sky internet closer to the router then I would not consider changing to another ISP.
In my local area Virgin have a terrible reputation - loads of mass outtages that go on for days. (my daughter included).
I have used Sky broadband for more years than I care to remember and it has been really solid (No, I don't work for them).
If it ever goes down (which it did this morning) a simple "turn it off ... wait ... turn it back on" has always solved 95% of issues I've every had.
Instead of cchanging your ISP I would suggest a Range Extender like the TP link range extender - I bought mine for about £45 ; it works by re-transmitting your WiFi via the electrical circuits in your home.
Worked for me

@Poh1 the suggestion from @Effers is a good one the system is properly known as powerline networking and is more reliable than WiFi especially for things like video conferencing etc. You can buy adapterscthst includecwifi extenders but for a laptop you msybe better off using an ethernetvfeed from the adapter.
