My new sky max hub won’t connect

Hi

i got sky for the first time. Tv box came working fine. 
Max hub arrived 3 days ago and wouldn't work (lights never went white). My broadband is working fine through my old BT router and plugged in exactly the same way. I spoke to sky - they said it must be the hub. Sent me a replacement hub. This one also won't work so it's clearly not the hub. Given it's plugged in exactly the same as my BT hub I can't understand why it's not working. I've tried to reset it. It's just flashing between amber and red lights.   All my lights on my openreach connection are green and working. Any ideas.?

Has your activation date with Sky actually passed?   The Sky Hub is despatched to arrive several days before then.

 

That the BT Hub is still working suggests the switch of ISP broadband provision hasn't happened yet: it typically wouldn't function if Sky had taken over the circuit.

Yes the activation date was Wednesday. 
I've had emails and texts from sky and open reach saying it's happened.

If you visit a 'what is my IP address' website (there are many), which ISP does that return?

So a long number and when I click on details it says the ISP is BT - no mention of sky. 
does this indicate it's not switched?
