My new sky hub password isn’t working

I have just recently got sky wifi and my password for wireless Wi-Fi does not seem to work and it won't let me login to 192.168.0.1. I have never even used my Wi-Fi wirelessly yet as the password won't work , I have reset the hub multiple times and nothing , the only way I can connect is through Ethernet so I know the hub is working fine it's just the password that came with it is obviously wrong , any help ?

@Bryan4 the password is definitely not wrong if the hub is properly reset the wifi password on the label will be correct or at least on every Sky hub so far that has been true and there are well over 5 miliion of the things in use. 😀. To reset the hub press and hold in the reset pin until the powerlight flashes then release it. Which takes up to 20 seconds. If you release the pin before that the hub just reboots rather than resets.

People do get confused between the hubs Wifi password and the admin password required to access the web interface. They are not necessarily the same the older flat type hubs use the word sky as the admin password simple enter the word admin as the username and sky as the password when asked to access the settings not both use lower case letters. The newer upright hubs use admin and the default wifi password.

The latest white Sky Wifi Max hub is different as you dont use the web interface to change settings you use the My Sky app assuming Sky have set it up properly for you.

Re: My new sky hub password isn’t working

I received my box yesterday engineer fitted it all gave us the password on a card, that matches the sticker on the router. But it just keeps saying "password incorrect"

I don't have a contact number for Sky either

@Je551ca1 first carefully check you are not misreading the code on the card and the label a common issue is mistaking a number like0 or 1 for the letter O or I or vice versa. Its a very easy mistake to make.

If you are certain you aren't then do a factory reset on a black Sky hub by holding the reset pin until the power led blinks then release if the password is still incorrect after the hub fully reboots call Sky as something very odd has happened.

The forum does not allow us to post phone numbers but if you use the Sky Talk line dial 150 for a free call or follow through any of the contact us links on a Sky web page or simply do a Googlec search and use one of Sky's 03 numbers as they should all lead onto a common IVR system that routes the call.

Re: My new sky hub password isn’t working

Exactly the same thing has happened to me. Setting up the new router. Password on the card is incorrect. No typos or ambiguous characters. Will have to call sky in the morning.

@AlanAllen check the hub's label as that will be the correct default password. However it is wiorth doing a factory reset of the hub in casecsomebody has changed it On the black hubs press and hold in the reset pin until the power led.flashes. On the white Sky Max hub press and hold in the wps button for 30 seconds

All Sky will do is replace the hub if you call them.

Re: My new sky hub password isn’t working

I installed my new hub yesterday and found that the given wifi password on the card and hub didn't work. I reset the hub, but it made no difference. I then logged in to the hub as admin and checked the password. It looked identical to the string that I'd repeatedly typed in from several different devices. (I was very, very careful about this and I absolutely did NOT type it in incorrectly). So I tried cutting and pasting the string directly from the field in the hub and that attempt connected as it should. So, as for the password always being correct, I'd say that it might well look correct, but what strange or hidden characters it contains might be another matter. I changed the wifi password in the hub and all is now well.

Re: My new sky hub password isn’t working

I am having the exact same problem as everyone above. After calling sky I'm waiting for a 2nd new router . The router was correctly installed and the correct password entered correctly numerous time  tried resetting that didn't work either. I'm considering leaving sky and going to virgin this is ridiculous they should be sending out engineers who are paid to do a job  instead of trying to talk someone through what to do on the phone not everyone is able to follow these instructions for various reasons and which I can take hours total of  3 hrs so far.
