@Gangstagran1 Does seem like there is an area fault currently!

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

Briefly came back online for me at 18:50 but only lasted a couple of minutes. Sky service checker is no longer showing a Chesterfield area outage though.

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

Agreed.  Same here briefly back then no DSL.   Sky test my line fails as well.   This is BT issue and they can take 5days not th3 usual 2days.   I have an order with sky for an open reach engine to sort it.   But it depends where I am in the queue as they may fix it for someone else first and that cures it for all.

Canyou identify if there is a wider issue as my checker shows different each time.

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

This is ridiculous. Sky app saying no problem, but there definitely is, we can't get online at all, no TV either due to no internet. If it does take 5 days this will be a boring 5 days for sure!

@Keltig

Although we are customers here so you are not talking to say seeing multiple people from Chesterfield are posting on here as you can see I think it is fair to say there is an ongoing issue at present.

Re: Chesterfield broadband outage 31st oct

Hi, chesterfield here (Newbold). Our sky app says services are fine but we have had no connection since 5pm. Heard it could take five days, not impressed

Re: Chesterfield broadband outage 31st oct

Ours is out in Brockwell. Sky service check saying there's no outage. Absolutely useless. I used to be with Virgin and every time there was an outage it would be identified and fixed fairly quickly. Sky just don't care about customers. Will be cancelling asap. Every week without fail there is an issue with either broadband or TV. Not acceptable.

Re: Chesterfield broadband outage 31st oct

That's exactly what ours says. Glad it's not just me but it's very frustrating. I planned to rent from sky store tonight, they've lost £20 there aswell..!

Internet down Holmewood, Chesterfield

I presume from looking at the other posts that there are major county wide issues going on around Chesterfield and beyond but is anyone having any luck in actually reporting this to Sky and getting a useful and informative update?

The sky service checker is living in a fantasy world of rainbows and unicorns and seems to think there's no outage issues in the area (the numerous community posts would suggest otherwise) and because the bloody thing is useless and doesn't have an option to go "actually you're wrong and there is an issue can you raise it to resolve" like a service that actually wants to help its customers, and not drive them into a frothing rabid mess to then take it out on a customer service person who's in no way responsible for the issue....im kind of left in the dark as to what to do.

I presume sky will compensate me for the lost wages when I have to take time off work as I work from home /s

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

Issue is with the BT Wholesale routing layer in the exchange (which all openreach broadband traffic uses regardless of provider i.e. Sky, BT, TalkTalk etc) and has been happening on and off for over 1 year.

The Sky service checker says all is okay as that is only validating the openreach part (which is the connection between your home and the chesterfield exchange).

You can tell your house is connected to the exchange successully if the lights on your ONT are still green. Unfortunately due to the issue in the exchange everything your sky router sends gets lost which is why we have no internet access.

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

So our lights are still green, is that normal for an outage?

Re: Chesterfield broadband outage 31st oct

Yep.

They won't care. What's £20 to them? They are clever though. They put this on the service check page:

You’ll need to complete these steps before you’re covered under Ofcom's Better Broadband Speeds, Voluntary Code of Practice (sky.com/vcop).

But then make it impossible to complete the check (probably intentionally so they don't need to issue any refunds), by giving the following:

Oops that didn't work

We're having some problems and our tests are unavailable at the moment.

Try again later so we can test your connection

At least when I had problems with virgin (much much much more rare) they would say when there's a problem and give an ETA. But sky just chose to say nah there's no problem.

I've been with them a year and still to this day I can not watch apple TV or netflix through the puck in 4k as it crashes every time.

Just to top it off the virtual assistant "help" kept ignoring what I was saying and offering me upgrades. By the time it decided I needed to be connected to a real person the live chat had just closed.

Happy Halloween!

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

Yes for this type of mass outage as your individual connection to the chesterfield exchange is working. Issues in the exchange are why you have no internet. Everyone using openreach based fibre in Chesterfield will have no working internet currently.
