Multiple intermittent internet disconnections (L34) - related to multiple IPv6 Input & Forward drop?
Been having multiple intermittent broadband disconnections (Sky Superfast 80 with WiFi max router) between midnight to 05:00 hrs today. Occasionally, connection re-establishes itself, other times have to go through the Sky troubleshooting process webpages to re-establish. Sky mobile app service checker occasionally indicates a problem but as the reconnection occurs relatively quickly (usual no longer than 3 minutes), retesting once reconnected shows no issues.
Also had a problem last Monday 14 when the internet disconnected for around 30 minutes - at that time the service checker indicated there was an external problem and an engineer would be booked but as the internet resumed I contacted Sky Technical Services but they suggested it might be worthwhile for an OpenReach engineer to still inspect the external equipment (presumably the local cabinet)., this will hopefully be done Friday.
Was looking at the Firewall logs from the router and there are multiple entries over the last 90 days including today & 14th Oct when I noticed the other disconnection

Ii'm presuming the internet disconnections and these IPv6 Forward and Input drops are related...but is there anything I can do to prevent these disconnections?

Re: Multiple intermittent internet disconnections (L34) - related to multiple IPv6 Input & Forwa
It appears to be have been reported on xfinity /comcast and Reddit in the US and as sky is part of comcast their advice would be gospel
It is the firewall blocking incoming traffic which is ok so long as you have no port forwarding rules.
Is your superfast 80 via an old mastersocket or ont ?
It may be beneficial to contact sky to run diagnostics

Re: Multiple intermittent internet disconnections (L34) - related to multiple IPv6 Input & Forwa
Many thanks for your input @cookiemonsteruk.
No port forwarding rules in place.
Superfast 80 with router into pre-filtered master socket (ie no need for filters on any other phone socket).
Only occasionally use VPN but not in use during this morning or 14 Oct.
Forgot to mention, nothing of interest in either of the other troubleshooting logs from the router. Firewall is set to "low".
This may seem a bit paranoid but as an on-line PC gamer, I believe there is some method by which an opponent can try & interrupt my connection to the game server, slowing my inputs or even terminating my connection thereby resulting in them winning the match. These
IPv6 input & forward drops couldn't be related to this sort of "attack" could it?

Possibly , but it would be more usual for a Denial of Service attack to knock your connection offline entirely.

It was mentioned on reddit that it may be a bot pinging for vulnerabilities

Re: Multiple intermittent internet disconnections (L34) - related to multiple IPv6 Input & Forwa
Thanks for your messages @TimmyBGood & @cookiemonsteruk
Looks as though these IPv6 forward & input drops are the cause of the internet disconnections rather than a result of a disconnection (for some other reason).
I'll check with Sky to see if the Open Reach engineer found any faults and ask if they can offer any solutions.
