Hello Everybody,
I am currently living in a shared accommodation of 5 people with 2 broadbands. One is Sky which is my personal and the router is in my room ( cable coming through the wall) and the other one is TalkTalk and the router is downstairs for everybody else to use in the house. I am moving to a new shared accommodation which already has a TalkTalk broadband there. I would like to transfer my exisiting broandband over to the new address and on the phone I was told that the new router will arrive on 20th of February for me to connect it myself. I am pretty sure there will be direct conflict with the exisiting broadband at my new place and I need an engineer to make a separate connection for me like I have currently. The person on the phone said that the engineer will not be coming and only the router with the instructions will arrive on that date. I would like to know how should I handle this situation?
I Look forward to your reply.
Regards,
Tarmo

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Tarkas88 you can only ever have one broadband connection on a phone line so currently there must be 2 phone lines in your current accomodation. If your new accomodation also has 2 lines that is no issue but check they are connecting to the correct number.
However if there is only one line by booking a home move you are instructing Sky to take over the single line at your new address. Sky will instruct Openreach to discontinue the current service as you are moving in. In most home moves this is correct as the old residents are moving out. Here the order will fail shen the current user objects. You would have to share their connection.
If there is only one line currently it is possible a second line can be installed but Sky need to tell Openreach to do that before doing that make sure you have the owners permission. Inthink there will be a chargectominstall a second line.

Chrisee,
Thank you for excellent response. I get in touch with Sky and see if they can arrange a new phone line to be installed to my room by Openreach. I appreciate your post and helping me out.
