I want to move the master socket for the phone line but BT open reach told me to contact the internet provider to do this. Is this something a Sky engineer can be booked in to do?

Hi
I have just rang sky and asked to have the master socket moved, and apparently this can't be done. I explained to the customer service guy that this is what open reach had said, and he disagreed, stating I would need to have lines checked a sky engineer etc first to fix what ever the problem was. Told him already done this, but just want to move the master socket from the kitchen to the living room , gung up after a lengthy discussion with him...any help with what I need to do please

I am in the same situation. Need master socket moved and phone connects to the router.
Not phoned Sky yet as its too late tonight but £65 seems more reasonable than some of the other posts I read where other ISPs were charging 170 odd quid!
Is there a tactical method to use when I call, mine is in a hall way and now I am VOIP all other BT sockets are useless, leaving me with a phone and router as a trip hazard in my hall. With elderly relatives visiting zimmer frames do not mix with routers and phones on the floor!

Hi there still haven't had my master socket changed i've still got an extension lead from when I moved in the house. Sky didn't fit a new one and my daughter is very unbalanced Disorder and keeps tripping over on it. Can we get someone out plese thank you

I moved mine myself in the end. Its actually much more simple than I thought and if you see an open reach van nearby explain the issue to them. They won't do 'homers' anymore but the one I spoke to gave me a socket and some connectors.
If thats not possible for you then consider upgrading to fibre. This will result in a new cable coming into the house and then you decide where (within reason) the cable comes in. Just bear in mind the fibre means that all your phone sockets (other than master) are useless and not advisable if you have a medical alarm as they don't function in the event of internet or power outages.
