Moving house

We exchanged contacts to move house 2 days ago. Yesterday I received notifications of me cancelling my sky contract and sorry your leaving email. I haven't even contacted Sky. I phoned today and asked why I had received this and that I didn't want to leave I wanted to move house. I was told I cannot do anything now until after I move as the people buying my house have requested broadband. This doesn't make sense to me.  I now have to wait till 12th September before I can even start an order for broadband which could take 2 more weeks. I work from home so cannot be 2 weeks without internet I'm confused.
