Hi all,
I have recently moved home and the new house has a office prebuilt that is around 8 meters away from the property. My sky router and connection has been installed at the front of the property and the garden office is at the rear of the garden. It was my plan to set up the office to work from or have it as a gaming room for my children.
I need a decent internet connection out their. The garden has been landscaped so I don't want to have to remove flags to bury an Ethernet cable. I think the best option maybe to use a TP Link syste. Has anyone got any experience using this with their sky Wi-Fi? Does it work ok? I've read online their is difficulties as Sky routers cannot be operated as a bridge or in access point mode. Can anyone provide me with any advice on this.
I'm currently using Sky stream and could do with improving internet connection in some of the bedrooms upstairs so I think a TP link system may help here. I'm currently using a sky SR203 router (I think!).

TP Link is a brand name, not a specific technology. Which of their numerous different systems were you considering?

@TimmyBGood @I was planning on buying the X20 but if you have another recommendation I'm happy to take this onboard

OK, that's a mesh system. The downside of those is that mesh nodes are really intended to go midway between router and client devices: having one node out in the office and another in the house doesn't actually bring the network segments close together. However, performance is also based on building construction, so you may find it helps.

That should work but speeds are never anywhere near the rated speed on the unit typically you get 20 to 40% in practice. Always plug the adapters into wall sockets you can buy many different types including ones with built-in wifi Access Points if you want. However for both gaming and work it is always better to link to the adapter by ethernet cables.

@TimmyBGood @Thanks for the response. It sounds like you wouldn't recommend that system. Is there something different you would recommend?

I was actually thinking of a mesh system and not the power line adapters. Is this what you recommend? Is there a particular system you'd recommend?
