Moving House - quote double the price

Tried to arrange to have my broadband set up in my new home.  They wanted to charge me double for the same internet.  When I refused the lady said ok just call back to cancel nearer the date, no

negotioms or recommendations!! When I go on to the website I can get it at almost the orginal price as a new customer. Surely Sky would prefer to keep customers.  I guess I'm looking for some advice.  Should I just cancel and a) try a different provider or b) cancel broadband at my old home and then re register as a new customer?  Thank you 🙏

When you move it's a new subscription. You can't sign up as a new customer until you've been away for 18+ months.

Better discounts are offered to new customers as an incentive for them to join. Most providers do this. 

If you choose to jump ship and go with another provider then in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position with that provider and if you want you'll be able to return to Sky as a new customer and gain the benefits available at that time.

@Kaitlinsmum63 When you cancel, if you are not out off contract then just expect the cancellation fee for the remainder off your time to be added at that point!

Yes I've just discovered that, I gave another 12 months to go.  I'll try and get

a hold of retentions in the hope they will

teduce the price.  Thank you.

@Kaitlinsmum63 Home moves do not work that way, they forgive your 12 months remaining and ask you to resign on for the 24months, its a new address, a new install, a new contract, everything is going on!
