Moving Broadband to Virgin
Morning all. I'm thinking of moving my Broadband back to Virgin, any potential pitfalls with Sky Q I need to be aware off . (BB currently FTTP with Sky).
am I right in thinking the mini boxes no longer act as hotspots, and any known connectivity issues with the mini boxes generally.
thanks in advance.

Re: Moving Broadband to Virgin
As you have mentioned, you will lose hotspot cabability.
Nothing else that should be a problem.
Just follow the connection procedure of your Sky Q equipment as described here;
Sky Stream with two pucks (former Sky Q and Sky+ customer).
Sky Ultrafast + using Sky SR203 hub. Sky Mobile unlimited data. Sky Protect smart tech kit tester.

@TimmyBGood So they are hotspots then, when set up?

Re: Moving Broadband to Virgin
Yes, but given the Q specification is now a decade old, they are pretty limited ones.

Re: Moving Broadband to Virgin
Just out of interest, with regards to stream, do the pucks act as hotspots? @TimmyBGood

No they do not.
You just need to ensure you have the available stability and local network bandwidth available.
Sky recommended minimum broadband speed of 25Mbps.
Or 30Mbps if you add an extra Sky Stream puck or to watch in UHD
Plus using the live sync feature, can at times add a few Mbps to each puck using it.

They are but only operate on the 2.4GHz band so the speed will be limited to around 40-60 Mbps, which is about what I get now I've moved from Sky. If possible connect the Q box to the router by ethernet instead of wifi, otherwise you may get lower speeds.
Sky Q 2TB v2 (Q150.000.28.00L) + ; 2x Mini, Philips 55OLED806, Lumagen Radiance Pro 4242,
Yamaha RX-A3080 + NAD C270 (7.1.4)

Re: Moving Broadband to Virgin
See you are on fttp currently.
What speed are you getting to your router.
Will your Virgin be a fibre or 150Mbps above.
Be honest, hotspots on my Sky Q got turned off, when I moved from a 75Mbps dsl to Sky Ultrafast 500Mbps, as the push of wifi around the house from the Sky Sr203 provided a lot more speed around the house and garden, so the hotspots were actually providing less speed for connecting to than a device directly connecting to the router.

Re: Moving Broadband to Virgin
@lettice Yes I'm on full fibre 150mbps, Virgin are offering me speeds in excess of 250. I've been with the previously so I have no issue with what they can offer. 😊
