Hi, so I moved House back in November. Kept Sky tv but my broadband was with another provider. sky have been great as usual, but my internet was not so straight forwards. On my live date, open reach advices my provider that they couldn't carry out the connection. No reason was given.
fast forwards to last week, I still had no internet. No information, no reason. So I cancelled my order and tried to sign up to sky broadband.
However, it won't let me. It appears as though my house is the only one on the street that can't access it. I've spoken on the phone to sky and they get the same issue when trying to test my line. They/I just get a "technical issue".
has anyone else experienced this? It's quite frustrating as I don't know if it's a physical fault, or has the house been black listed by sky? I've tried other providers and they all give me options when I type in my address.
it's really frustrating and I feel like I will never get an answer. Sky did say on the last call that they would investigate and it would take upto 5 days and they will contact me. I just wanted to ask on here and see if it's a known issue to help my sanity.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Michael+C007 if there is an issue with Openreach connect a broadband service for one ISP that issue will apply if you order from Sky. Never try to move ISP while there is an Openreach order open as it can only add to the delay even if its possible to do so. The delay is very rarely down to the ISP you are almost cetainly waiting on Openreach to sort the issue so go back to your orginal supplier.
One issue with home moves we see frequently is Openreach or the ISP decline to supply a service over copper requiring use of a fibre to the home connection. While in theory that is great in practice you can get long delays while fibre is connected from your local distribution ooint to your new property as Openreach are short of the engineers this work requires and it can involve digging holes which require permits, roadworks etc.

I've already left, too late. I don't know what to do now though, are there companies that can upgrade/install a decent line so I can get a service?
shall I bite the bullet and sign up to another provider just to get Internet? I'd love to be able to sign up to sky, get them to sort the installation and pay them for broadband and a phone line going forwards.

Unless you are in an area served by Virgin or an altnet provider then that would be Openreach: they have an effective national monopoly.
