Move new house with broadband
Hi I'm Joy to move house 23rd February and I only have sky broadband. Is it a case of just plug it in and it will work. Or do I need an engineer?

No: you absolutely need to make a Home Move booking with Sky as soon as possible, because you're
already very close to the minimum lead time. Broadband from a particular ISP does not follow their router around the UK telecoms network: it has to be manually provisioned at the new address.

If provisioning at the new address is going to be over FTTP and that's not in place already, then yes, very much so. You'd also require in-premises attendance for FTTC if there isn't an Openreach master socket (and note that particularly in properties previously served by Virgin it's not unknown for these to be missing)

Re: Move new house with broadband
Have you contacted sky about the move? You would need to give them 12 days notice
An engineer will need to attend the exchange/cabinet at the least and maybe the house as well

Re: Move new house with broadband
Putting the new address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.
Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

Re: Move new house with broadband
If you enter your new address below and post the table and notes we would be able to see if work is required internally . Please remove your address from the image

Re: Move new house with broadband
Moving home will not impact any Sky TV contract, it will continue as normal. If you have phone and broadband however, this will be a new contract as Sky will need to cancel the line at the current address and take a new one in the new address.

Re: Move new house with broadband
You don't contact the engineer: you book the Home Move with Sky and they make all the arrangements, including booking Openreach where required. For new FTTP you'd need to be available at the address to give consent and grant access for the cabling work to go ahead.

Re: Move new house with broadband
This link explains a home move
https://www.sky.com/moving-home
If you need to contact Sky, then if you already have a Sky Mobile or a Sky Talk landline call free by dialling 150, otherwise you can use:
https://www.sky.com/help/home
UK customers: Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number.
ROI customers: change the flag in the bottom right corner of the link to the ROI flag then scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0818 number.
(The forum doesn’t allow us to type the numbers in full).
You will find that similar to calling other large companies the start will be automated which may also try to send you back to the forum. Stay on the line as long as possible and don’t hang up.
