Re: Move master Socket

I arranged it myself as Sky said they couldn't do it. Try calling them. It depends what type of broadband you have.

Re: Move master Socket

Hi, I have just moved into a place and need to organise a master socket move, however when i try to call sky, there is no way to speak to a representative due to the current environment. Are you still offering this to everyone or is sky support now restricted to those who most need it? Thanks

@CNE20 although they're  prioritising customers at greatest covid risk, Sky are actually taking calls from any customer. Don't respond to the covid message asking you to hang up, and stay on the line.

Re: Move master Socket

Hi, I'd like to move the location of the wiring to my master socket as I'm having building work carried out. I understand Sky have to be contacted first but how? I've tried live chat. Not in use. I've tried e-mail, message won't send, I've tried phone, waited 30 minutes and gave up. Is there another way?

  • This has been proven to work - When you call you will be asked if the call is to do with mobile say "No"
You will then be asked the nature of the call say " Technical "
You will then be asked for a mobile number, give the number but DO NOT hang up when it says to do so.
It will then ask "do you wish to hang up" say " No" you will then be put in the queue for an advisor.

Re: Move master Socket

Hi All,

I need to arrange my master socket to be moved as ive had a new door cut in and it runs right through where the cable runs so is causing a bit of a trip hazard at the moment. Anyone know the best number to speak to Sky on?

  • Dial 150 if you have Sky Talk or Sky Mobile for a free call.

Re: Move master Socket

Switched from Virgin, because of the TV. Sky TV install done yesterday, very happy.  BB a different story - Sales advisor said, if any issues with telephone socket,  Sky/Openreach would resolve them. Issue is that the socket (BT stamped) that my Virgin landline worked on & where I want the Sky router to be isn't (as I now know) the master socket.  The master socket is in the hallway, nowhere near a power point, & its not feasible to have extension cable running across the hallway/main house entrance.

Speaking to Sky today I was told, it's not a fault & that Openreach are not currently moving sockets - in spite of the Sky website "Help" saying :-

" moving your master socket and router to a more central location may be useful if you’ve a big house or are struggling to pick up Wi-Fi, as it could help with coverage. If you’d like your master socket moved to a new location in your home, we can organise this for you. "  - the advisor suggested I  arrange an electrician to do the work .

Not an ideal start to my Sky BB experience.  Any ideas/thoughts?
