Re: Mobile phone issues since taking sky broadband

Are you talking about making calls on the mobile network or using WiFi Calling?

If the latter, do you have an iPhone?

When you go "3 doors down", is that to visit a neighbour & log onto their WiFI or just walking down the street?

@JessieJ1

Is your mobile connecting at all to your home wifi ?  if not try the following troubleshooting... samsung mobile-devices i-cant-connect-to-wifi

To check broadband shield settings you need to find it on the mysky app which you can install on your phone.

In order to alter the parental settings you need to open up My Sky App on phone and click on Broadband. Then scroll down and click on Product Settings then Broadband Shield and change the option to 18.

That suggests you have no mobile signal indoors & either have a local network fault or have been relying on WiFi Calling.

Do you have the WiFi Calling icon showing on the Samsung?

If not, here's the instructions to enable it.

Note the option to prefer WiFi Calling. Not all providers support that but if it's available, you should select it.

Lastly, you say you're with TalkTalk for mobile. Is that an old contract you've kept going?  TalkTalk no longer sell mobile services.

Re: Mobile phone issues since taking sky broadband

Alas didnt last long and back to having no ability to phone out or receive calls on mobile.  Apparently I cant do WIFI calling as Talkmobile dont do if you are below a level 12 ?? My phone is level 10 apparently!!  Might as well be speaking greek to me..

Re: Mobile phone issues since taking sky broadband

That doesn't really make any sense, WiFi Calling either works or it doesn't. It can't work a bit unless you have the issue of a very marginal mobile signal that's taking priority. I see that Talkmobile use Vodafone, who from my experience don't provide the option to prefer WiFi Calling, so that could be the issue. So you may need to look at swapping your SIM to a provider that doesn't use Vodafone.

Use the Ofcom signal checker to see who has the best predicted coverage & then find an MVNO that uses that network. Buy a cheap SIM to confirm it works before migrating your number.
