Missing Internal Openreach ONT box and possible socket incompatibility within a new property.
Hey everyone, I got some urgent questions here.
Couple of days ago I've finished moving house and decided to keep Sky services. I've ordered Sky Max Hub with the activation date of 22.11.2024, recieved it and unboxed it. Other than modem itself, there were also main power plug and ethernet cable.
When connecting the hub, I've noticed that my property doesn't have an internal Openreach ONT box to which I am supposed to be connecting my modem. After digging around and outside the house, I have found the external Openreach box that had a short fibre cable leading inside the house and that cable was connected to the modem of previous owners (They had an Openreach BT modem). When I connected their modem to that cable through the optical socket I found, it showed that the signal is there and it should work fine.
There are two problems I currently have:
1) As mentioned, I don't have the internal Openreach box that is mentioned in the installation guide that was supplied with the Sky hub.
2) The socket on Sky Max Hub for the optical connection is of a circular form, while standard optical cables have a squared form, so even If I'd wanted to connect the Hug directly to that cable from the wall, I could not physically plug it in.
My question is: Is it possible at all to order Internal Openreach box or it's analogues somewhere as a separate purchase? Or, is there a cable that allows circular and squared sockets connect?
Attaching some photos below:
The whole package that arrived with Sky Max Hub: new modem, ethernet cable, main supply cable, installation guide.
All the sockets on the new hub - the small circular male socket in the middle is where Im supposed to be connecting the cable.
Closer look.
The squared male Openreach cable from the outside that was connected directly to the old modem, and should be connected to Openreach internal box.
The slot on the old modem where it was directly connected to before.

Re: Missing Internal Openreach ONT box and possible socket incompatibility within a new property.
The green fibre optic plug can only connect to an optical device such as an Openreach ONT: it does not (and cannot) plug directly into a Sky Hub or any other ISP router.
I suspect what you refer to as the 'Openreach BT modem' is the ONT: there are several different models. This connects to the Sky Hub over ethernet cable (into the fourth yellow port, marked WAN)
The circular connector in the Max Hub is an alternative power supply point.

More than likely the previous occupier has taken the fibre ont with them

That 'modem' must be an ONT of some variety though, otherwise it wouldn't have an optical port.
A picture of it (front, ports and rear) would be useful.

My interpretation was that thats the ont from the old property
