Minecraft - can’t connect to external server from sister’s WiFi
Looking for a bit of help with a weird issue. I have a Docker Minecraft server running off my synology NAS. Port forwarding is all enabled in my router and I can play on it from my mobile data when I'm away from home.
Trying to play from my sisters Sky WiFi however it doesn't work. I can see the server in the list, it shows a ping and how many players are on but soon as I try to connect it gives the "unable to connect to world" message.
I've tried factory resetting my sisters WiFi and turning off the routers firewall but it still doesn't connect. Really stuck with this one and wondered if anyone has any ideas?

Re: Minecraft - can’t connect to external server from sister’s WiFi
@Charnondall it is possible thst the setting on Sky's Broadband Shield is preventing connection. Your sister can change that by logging onto the My Sky app and going to product settings and checking the level set.
Disabling the hub's firewall is extremly unwise as it leaves the network exposed to hacking.

Got my sister to check this and it says that broadband sheild is deactivated. Was really hoping this was the solution but sadly not. Quite stuck on what else it could be at this point.

Only thing I can think of is that your sisters Sky Hub is currently has a dodgy public IP assigned to it. You can get a new one by unplugging the hub for 30mins - 1hr. Alternatively if you use the Disconnect/Connect buttons in the routers admin settings under maintenance that can often force a new public IP lease.

Tried leaving the router off for 2 hours and sadly still the same problem. Have recorded a wee video to show what's happening. If I try to join the server from other WiFi or mobile data works perfectly. Totally stumped!

Re: Minecraft - can’t connect to external server from sister’s WiFi
I have exactly the same issue.
I have Minecraft installed on my phone and 2 amazon tablets.
With any of the devices on the wifi, Minecraft cannot see the realm servers.
If I try to connect to one of the minecraft dedicated servers it says " you need to authenticate to Microsoft services.".
It's clearly a sky networking issue, because if I connect to a VPN on my phone and then restart Minecraft the phone can connect to the realm servers.
As a workaround, you can hotspot any device with an issue, connect to the realm, then switch back to wifi. Once Minecraft has connected to the realm it seems perfectly happy to continue on the sky wifi.

Good tip! Never managed to resolve this so moved internet providers and that seemed to do the job. Really odd situation to block the connection for whatever reason and not have it linked to a setting that can be turned off.
