Good day everyone.
I got the new router up and running this morning but this thing won't allow me to change my SSID using the router's built in interface and tells me to do it via sky's website and "product settings". But when I go there it shows me that there are no active produts.
Router tells me that my settings "are being managed automatically to help optimize your home Wi-Fi network and improve Wi-Fi coverage" but I would much prefer to be able to do it manually as I know what I'm doing when it comes to IT stuff.
So the question is... is there a way to disable this automatic optimisation and let me change my the settings? Or will I need to unplug the cable from the ONT ever time I want to make changes as this disables the automatic optimisation?
Thanks a lot

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Marceloski you manage the wettings via the My Sky app orcwebsite. If you cannot see an entry for the WiFi Max hub sign out and resign in to the site as that often brings the settings up. If still stuck you need Sky's help either call them yourself or pist again and a superuser can escalate your post to the forum support team.

Hi, it has been taking around 24 hours after your connection to go live, before billing and products show up in the mysky.app.
Try tomorrow

The product do show up on "My products" page. But when I go to "Product Settings" it says that there are no active sky products.

And I find it super frustrating that I can't access the router settings via router interface. Makes no sense at all.

I know what you mean,
I've been setting up my home networking myself for 20 years. The sr213/max hub is the first that I've experienced that is locked down, and partially managed through an app.
Everything in the app seems to take 24hrs to populate. Unless your migrating in from Now broadband, and the sky database has multiple entries for you and gets confused.

I successfully bypassed the settings lock on my router by performing a factory reset. To do this, I held the WPS button for 30 seconds. Afterward, I unplugged the router from the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and allowed it to restart. I then connected my laptop to the router and updated all the desired settings, such as the SSID and passwords. Once I finished making these changes, I reconnected the router to the ONT.
Currently, it appears that all the settings are saved, and nothing has been remotely reset. However, I can no longer change any settings because the router locked itself again upon connecting to the ONT. Fortunately, since I was able to configure everything to my preference, I hope I will not need to adjust it again in the foreseeable future.

The 'sense' is that it's increasingly difficult to convince a web browser to talk to devices which ship with self-signed SSL certificates for their internal web servers, and eventually that won't be possible at all because this represents a significant security threat on the wider internet.
Frankly it's also much more convenient for non-technical users, and so reduces the support burden on ISPs which keeps down subscription cost.

It makes sense to a degree but the truth is that I should have a choice and be able to decide whether I want or I don't want to config my network. It would be a lot easier if I could just change my SSID and password to my old one instead of having to reconnect every single device to a new wifi. Having to wait like 24 hours for sky to kindly add my router to my account to allow me to make such small changes is absolutely ridiculous if you ask me. Luckily I managed to bypass this nonsese.

With respect, a loaned ISP router isn't 'your' device, particularly as the incoming generation are hybrid cloud hardware in constant communication with ISP management servers and will increasingly gain features outside of the subscribers direct (or even indirect) control.
I certainly agree that the current delay in provisioning administration access for some users on Max Hubs is a major flaw.

I agree with you on most of what you said. I just completely disagree with the idea of disabling the ability to change SSID and password to my wifi without having to go through all the overcomplicated process.

It does seem a rather odd choice by Sky, and I note that EE has retained local browser access to that functionality on its flagship new Hub in addition to in-app management. This is interesting because as EE takes over from BT to become the branding for their domestic broadband, it will be by far the biggest UK ISP and the most significant competitor for Sky Broadband.
