Hi, has anybody with gigafast fibre suffered a loss of service between 6:30 - 10pm? Apparently the link is over subscribed in the S40 post code of chesterfield. Open reach are aware but no timescale to sort. It is fine before and after these times.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Matt+2201 not heard of a loss of service being due to contention a slow down is possible but loss of service is weird. Each distribution point feeds up to 32 connections and is fed by a fibre connection with 2.48Gb/s down so you can hit contention issues. Also the backhaul from the exchange can become congested but customers should not lose connection but things can crawl.
What do the lights on the hub and the ONT show?
There was a thread of issues in the Chesterfield area here last year where there were a series of issues affecting customers in that area with a large number of theories but faulty equipment could be the cause. If you haven't already done so report the fault to Sky.

Hi, apologies, my message wasn't that clear. The service doesn't go all together but drops from around 900 to the 39, 49 mark between those times. Sky say equipment and connection is good but stated there link is oversubscribed which is throttling the speed?? Apparently an issue has been raised with open reach. In the last hour it has dropped by 100 already 🤬

It has now reached an all time low!!! Should have 900, have 10.2!!!!!!

Oversubscribed? You pay for Gigafast so there is no excuse for not getting that speed . Engineer visit needed if not already completed?

They have said too many on link. No issues with the hub. 8 days now since open reach supposedly sorting! 🤬

Totally unacceptable. The whole point of Gigafast is to have the speed. Definitely submit a complaint. If it's a issue with overload then it may be better to go down to Ultrafast and not suffer the evening speed issues??

I got this right now peak times cant do nothing cant do gaming download anything exact times and suffering packetloss for over a month and I've complained and they have done nothing to resolve it they just keep fobbing us off its there new gigafast fiber there's way to much traffic causing congestion got to be same time everyday and they try blaming everything else before they own up to it

I feel your pain, they fobbed me off for nearly 3 weeks. I documented speeds, then left without penalty. I'm now with EE, no changes other than new router and guess what NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER! Been with sky 23 years and all I can say is re their broadband / fibre, they are a disgrace!
