Loss of Speed
We've only had Sky Fibre Broadband a few weeks and initially the speed was coming up in the region of 150mbps which is what we are paying for but the last few days the speed has dropped to between 29 and 49 which is quite disturning as we signed up for 150!

Re: Loss of Speed
@JulieJones2 how are you measuring speeds? One common issue is where people run speed tests on drvices connected by wifi so end up measuring the speed of the wifi connection between the hub and the device and assume the broadband is running slowly when it isnt.. WiFi speeds are affected by the layout and type of construction in your home and are not something an ISP like Sky can control.
Could that be your issue?

Re: Loss of Speed
@JulieJones2 What device are you using to measure the speed with and how is it connected to the router?
If you have found this solution helpful please tick this as the answer.

Re: Loss of Speed
The same way I measured the speed when the engineer was here via my laptop connected by wifi! I am using the same device in the same position so why is it different?

Re: Loss of Speed
I have tried different devices but I am standing next to the router and the speed is coming up as 29. When the engineer was here to connect us via fibre the same device in the same place (in front of the router using wifi) it said 149! Surely there should not be so big a difference.

Re: Loss of Speed
Because WiFi is not a static entity, it can be affected by many things such as neighbouring WiFi, appliances within your home, other devices on your network & any background network activity on the laptop your using. The only reliable way to always get the same speed is using an ethernet cable.
