Looks like Sky sold me a pup...

Hi all,

It appears, despite being told Full Fibre 150 was available at my property, it is not. I have all the gear, set it all up as instructed - but don't actually have fibre.

 

I've tried to get through to Sky, but have nothing so far. Now, working from home is impossible, as is any streaming/TV etc - and I have absolutely no idea where I go from here.

 

Anyone else experienced this - or has any clue as to what I do?

 

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

@Pogal  Only FTTC is vailable on the Openreach Network, out of interest do City Fibre operate in the area?   

 

What did your order confirmation say regarding your broadband package?

What hub were you given and have they changed your mastersocket to one with g.fast on it?

@Pogal You will be connecting to a OR Master phone socket as you only have the partial fibre fttc if that is your correct address shown in the BTW checker, also do the Fibre checker link below same way as a double check!

Hello,

No, City Fibre do not cover my area, it seems! I don't think it is available, so no idea why Sky told me it was, and why they have allowed me to sign up (thinking great, I can get full fibre!)... 

 

My confirmation? It said the below...

I have a Sky Max hub - and no, no one has changed anything at the house. I did get texts from Oopenreach telling me it was all good to go... Whatever 'it' was!

I only have a phone socket. Nowt else, it seems. 

And the fibre checker says I can get part-fibre - with full fibre being built next year, apparently.

On the back of the new hub if you have received one is it a sr203 ot sr204

@Pogal Pretty much confirms that you are changing over to the sky Max hub and plugging it into hopefully a newer styled OR Master Phone socket type 5c Link below connecting hubs, sky max and using the digital internet phone calls best guide to look at.

@Pogal  Oddly it does not refer to Full Fibre and all wording suggest remote activation which would normally be for FTTC and possibly Gfast.

 

Full Fibre would need an ONT installing if there wasn't one.

 

It's odd they refered to speeds of 150mbps as you're just not going to reach those speeds on FTTC.

Well precisely. Which is why I am now a bit miffed, as I relied on them telling me what I could get, and got it - only now to discover work is impossible because, well, it doesn't work... 

 

I have no idea what to do now. 😔
