List of devices connected to wifi has duplicates

When I check the list of devices connected to my wifi, there appear to be duplicates. Why is this? E.g. we have 2 iphones and it lists 3. Also a Macbook is listed twice.

I haven't switched the (complicated) password off so I presume it's not a neigbour hacking me! If it is, how can I disconnect them and change the password?

@RMaz  Just a thought, items can appear twice if they are connected to both the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz bands at the same time (I think!)

Please disregard my previous response, talking out of my nether parts!

This might explain it however!

Re: List of devices connected to wifi has duplicates

Sounds like a rotating MAC address, try this.

Apple devices generate rolling MAC addresses, each time they re-connect they generate a diffrent MAC address, as the lease is allocated by your router you may see the old one and the new one until the IP lease expires.

In General settings, WiFi, touch the blue 'i' in the circle next to the connected WiFi name, change the 'Private WiFi Address' to 'Fixed' this will stop the iphone from creating new MAC addesses when it re-connects to that WiFi Station.

On your MacBook, the process is similar, under WiFi Settings.

The idea is it supposed to stop your Apple devices being tracked on public WiFI stations, where the Private WiFi Address will be set to Roatating, by default.
