Lights on but broadband light red

My broadband has stopped working. The modem lights are on but the broadband light is red. Sky have said it is probably a cable problem but cannot provide an an engineer for 9 days.  Is there any way of getting it repaired sooner as the Internet forms so much of our daily activity.
