Lag spikes and packet loss

Hello, I have had a problem with my sky broadband for about 2 months now and I have tried every possible way but still no answer. I have had a new router installed, no difference, I have had a booster installed no difference. I have a ps5 in the living room which is about 5 metres away from the broadband. I live with 2 other people and when I play on my PlayStation. Even when it is the only one connected I always experience horrific lag spikes and packet loss. this isn't the case juts on my ps5 but on almost all my devices. Please could someone fix my problem. There is no way I can connect my ps5 through Ethernet.

Unfortunately, there is no solution to poor wireless latency in your area with PS5. An alternative solution would be to use ethernet over powerline adaptors for the 5-metre distance, these are available at quite cheap prices these days.

But what can sky do about that because this is getting pathetic now?

@Erick1 Sky cannot change the laws of physics. WFi issue very common and interference is a reality in many homes and isn't something any ISP can control. The layout of your home, what it is built out of, the proximity of beighbours and what other electrical kit you have are all factors.

There are more complicated WiFi setups you can buy which are better but as pointed out where Ethernet cables are impractical powerline is a good second best.

Wireless environments change it is a shared media among the immediate neighbourhood around a radius of about 500 metres around one's house, your setting may have not changed but others have in the neighbourhood.

This may be worth trying with the SR204 G.fast router, try reducing the width of the channel to 40Mhz, it will impact speed by halving it but should reduce latency for that will suffer from less sideband interference for other channels in the neighbourhood.

Recommend at this stage for gaming to reduce the bandwidth width to 40Mhz, and see how you get on with that change for gaming and latency.

If the speed is impacted too much there isn't a great deal that can done about that fact, and you'd have to put up with the latency increase for speed to have 80Mhz width and occassional drops.

I have done that and the speed has only decreased by 2 mb/s I am still yet to test latency
