Lag / Desync in Games and general use - traffic always going to the USA?

Hi

Bit miffed here, I've been trying to resolve annoying desync issues in games for a while now. I have a 3rd party router which is set up perfectly to mitigate any issues my end. However, on the router I went to update the time to sync, using a "sync time from PC" or "sync time with internet", it keeps syncing up with a USA time zone.

Confused, I was doing some more testing, and doing a traceroute on any website, IP address, on different websites keeps showing the traffic being redirected from the UK to the USA. 15+ hops from start to finish. Why is this?

I occasionally get a few days where it's absolutely perfect and games run flawlessly, but only for a few days later to come back.

Do the hostnames listed in the traceroute give any clues about the routing?

@MrGamer12

Are you using custom DNS? Is your PCs time set to US? Is your 3rd party router set to US location in its system settings?
