Lack of Transparency Sky and Openreach

Why is it so difficult to get any semblance of an answer from either Sky or Openreach?

I was due to have FF installed May 12th. Openreach engineer arrived on time and spent about 10 minutes fiddling with the ducting at the front of my property. Returned to say that he was struggling to pull fibre through so couldn't make the connection that day.
He advised that they would need to install a CBT on the pole directly outside of my boundary wall and run the cable alongside the existing copper line.
He said it would take 2 weeks, maximum of 3. The other option was to dig the road on the other boundary wall to run the fibre underground, which he said could take up to 2 months, so this would not be acceptable from a time perspective.
Roll on 2 months later and my road has been closed while Openreach pretty much spend over 14 hours digging and at one point have 20 or so guys working up and down the street.
Call Sky a few days later to ask if the fibre has been sorted to my property to be told no. Explain that it has been 2 months since the planned install date and no updates from Openreach. The lady from Sky told me that Openreach have planned civil works for my installation on 22nd July.

Lady from Sky was very helpful and spent about 90 minutes on the phone with her, going through dates, what the Openreach engineers communicated and other details. She said she will update me with the results of their investigation on 23rd July. She told me that she would contact me with the works needed, dates planned and the results of the civil works etc.
When Sky called back on the 23rd July, I was told "Openreach will provide the next update 2nd August". That was it. Absolutley none of what she agreeed to do was completed.

Why is it so difficult???

Re: Lack of Transparency Sky and Openreach

I can empathise.

For context I work from home and in tech, so my connection is important. I scheduled the installation date so that I would minimise downtime, the install date came along and the engineer turned up and said "sorry the pole isn't climable I need to get the cherry picker here, unfortunatley the guy with the cherry picker is on holiday".

I had to wait 2 months for them to come back again.

There is nothing Sky can do, it's down to OpenReach.
