We just had Openreach install the fibre cable and the box on the wall. Once the box light turns green, it's live and I should be able to then call Sky to get my Internet sorted.
My question is, once I call Sky and get it sorted, do they overnight the modem? Does anyone from Sky have to come to make sure it's working?

Both. We had the cables run under the residence. Last week we had the cable brought inside. Today we had the cales under the residence checked and the box to plug in the fibre cable was installed inside and the fibre cable plugged in. The bar code was scanned and we were told all we have to do now is wait for the red light to turn green and then we can call whichever ISP we want as it should be in their database that we are live.

Openreach are supposed to let the ISP know in advance, so that the router is already there: sometimes I think they just get ahead of themselves though. No-one from the ISP needs to attend the address.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI thought the PON light is only on once the service from the ISP is active, so it won't come on until you have a connection from your chosen ISP (which I believe, for you is Sky).
I could be incorrect though about the light and when it comes on.

Openreach did not let the ISPs know in advance. What I was told waas that that scan the bar code and then the information that the fibre is live goes out tot he ISPs.
Thing is, there was no active FTTP until today. I'm not waiting for Sky to say it's OK to get service.

Sky won't send someone out to see that the modem is active even though I tell them so. They need to see it in their database. So I'm hoping that it gets in the database tomorrow or Wednesday.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@LGUserThe broadband engineer I had did scan the barcode on the ONT, it goes against the job number so that it can then activate it on their systems. Looks like that is what Openreach did for you today, but not sure when the information will go live for you.
