The annual price rise applied by all ISPs in April 2023 was based on the official UK rate of inflation in December 2022, and that rate was historically high. Sky, unlike some others, did not add a fixed percentage on top of this rate.

However, it seems to me a lot, I will look at other providers to see what prices they have and if you have the better price, I will give up on you

Typically all ISPs offer lower cost subscriptions to new subscribers: prices then increase significantly at the end of the initial discounted period
This is a standard business practice across the industry.
