I recently switched to Sky and found there was a little bit of a drop in wifi strength in our living room so bought a TP Link 300Mbps Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender. I connected it, setting it up as an Extender and nothing more, and it seemed to work - in fact, the signal through it now works more consistently than the direct connection through the router.
The problem being: the connection through extender is fine but now when I access, say, Twitter or Youtube or other social media sites on the original wifi connection through the router, it comes up with This Site Cannot Be Reached errors.
When I remove the TP Link the problem goes, so there's obviously a connection, but what is causing this and is there an easy way to fix it? Thought this would be the place to ask. Thanks for any help in advance, cheers!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@rmcc854 if direct connection to the hub works and you only get the problem on your extender it sounds like a parental control feature in the extender. What model number do you have?
TP-Link do offer parental control on their wifi.routers but extenders shouldn't have the option. In any case there should be a web page you can access to change the settings often they use 192.168.0.254 as the access address.

Hi @ChrisE. Thanks for this. Ironically, that link leads to a This Site Cannot Be Reached for me. The model is TLWA850RE. I should maybe I add: I don't have the same issues on my phone, it's just my laptop. I have the Tether app, and I cannot see any parental functions on it to change.

Check your device having access issues isn't in the listed devices here https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1425/

Hi @rmcc854,
Did you ever find a solution for this?
I'm having exactly the same issue where my original sky wifi connection is intermittently stating "No Connection" when I'm using a TP-Link range extender (All lights fine on the Sky Hub and Sky diagnostics saying no problem).
Different devices act completely differently, with some devices working sometimes but not others. My laptop sometimes loses the connection, whilst my phone never seems to.
Thanks in advance!
