Is port forwarding possible with SR213 router

Hi, I'm new to Sky and have just taken out a new Gigafast contract with an SR213 router. I asked when taking out the contract if port forwarding was possible and was told yes. Using the My Sky app to forward the ports does nothing; it’s like it’s not saving my settings. I've tried on both Android and iPhone with the same results. Is port forwarding not possible with this router, or is there something I'm missing here? I host game servers from home and have successfully set up port forwarding several times in the past with various routers.

@TommyPockets port forwarding definitely works on the SR213 so something is wrong with your set up. The device used to run the My Sky app is irrelevant but selecting the device running the server is sometimes difficult as you pick it from the list displayed in the app not by IP4 addresses log into.

One issue we often see is people assume that port forwarding isnt working by using an external port probe which relies on the server running on the target device responding which they often don't. The acid test is whether external users can access the server.

If you are a keen gamer use of any standard Sky hub can be frustrating and it msybe worth considering buying a router designed fir gaming Asus's range seem popular.

Re: Is port forwarding possible with SR213 router

Thanks for the reply @Chrisee . The only reason i feel like its not working is after setting up the ports and saving them i cant see them anywhere on the mysky app. Sureply they should be displayed somewhere if you want to change the port or delete the port forwarding rule in the future? The help section of the my sky app says the following -

Tap Port forwarding then Create/Add port forward rule.

Already got a rule set up. Tap the device under Active port forward rules to edit the settings.

However i cant see a "Active port forward rules" anywhere on the app after setting my open ports severel times. I would look at getting alternate hardware but would rather use the sky equipmet if its at all possable.

@TommyPockets I assume you fully confirmed the rule change before exiting the app if you did that properly the hub should have re-started which takes several minutes.. If the rule has been applied it should show when you go back into the app and click on the target device if it isnt it implies the rule was not saved.

if still stuck call Sky but while I have no need to use thport forwarding myself I know it has worked for others.

Re: Is port forwarding possible with SR213 router

Thanks for the help, @Chrisee. I will give Sky a call. For whatever reason, it's not saving my settings. Hopefully, I'll get it sorted soon.
