A default router configuration would be open for outbound but closed for unsolicited inbound.

Sky support won't open any ports on your own Hub for you: that's for you to do via the admin interface.

Opening port 53 (DNS) to the internet on a residential service is a stunningly bad idea!

Why are you even considering this?

Port 53 is normally used for DNS functions. It is very unusual for this to be open inbound on a domestic installlation.

Why do you need this open and what problem do you have?

In that case you don't need port 53 open inbound and, as metioned, it is already open outbound.
