I have 2 OWLTRON 5G Cam W1 Pro cameras. I got one connected to the wifi and it works fine but I cannot get the second one connected. I contacted their support and they made me jump through all the usual hoops until they eventually replaced the second camera. When the replacement one arrived it was the same story. Now they are advising me to split my wifi so that I have a 2.4G and a 5G, I am not too sure why that is necessary as the first camera worked fine on the synchronised bands. I dont know if I want to do that anyway because Sky do not advise it.
Now as far as I can see the 2.4 and 5 are on different channels so if I could somehow point the camera to the channel for 5G that might work ??
Any advice/ideas would be welcome. Thank you.

Ok, I pulled on my big boy pants today and decided to try what you suggested. The splitting was straight forward and I renamed the 2.4 band. The cameras would still not join the wifi so I restarted the router but still no joy. I was trying to add them via the Owltron app on my phone, so I then restarted my phone and it worked. I tried adding the second camera and it failed so for no reason other than it worked before I restarted my phone again and it worked. I then synchronised the bands again back to their original name and everything seems to be fine and the cameras are still online.........well done you !! Thank you for your help everyone.

@MichaelD56 If helps to connect your devices there is no harm in having them split.

Re: Is it a bad idea to split my WIFI into two, one at 2.4G and the other 5G
Thanks for that, I understand the principal that a synchronised wifi can be split into two with different names and that I can then connect the cameras directly to 5G. I'm not sure if that will help though but would I be correct in saying that iphone, ipads and PC's should also be connected to 5G rather than 2.4G or does it not matter and how might that affect the performance of my broadband.
Thanks again.

You could always split them, connect the camera, then synchronise them again

Re: Is it a bad idea to split my WIFI into two, one at 2.4G and the other 5G
Thank you for your suggestion but the last time I tried that I somehow got tangled up and had to do a factory reset so splitting then putting back together makes me nervous. As it seems to be possible to do this to get cameras added then my question to Sky is why should I need to ??, why does it simply not work with the default settings, I cant be the only person wanting to add devices to my wifi.

Its not just Sky, many smart/IoT devices have trouble connecting to any router that has both bands synchronised because it cant tell the difference. It could affect one camera and not the other in many ways such as location of the camera, what band your phone was using at the time of setup, how busy the routers bands are at the time etc.
