Is it Normal for sky to fail to attend for installation?

Anyone else get messed around by Sky failing to turn up on installation day?

wa meant to have broadband installed today, they failed to turn up, or even contact me to say why they weren't coming.

due to shoddy customer services I said if they can't come out or contact me to justify to cancel the contract. So they did. It's disgusting they have wasted an entire day. Can't even take out a new contact with another provider as these are still 'taking over the account'.

why can't they fulfil the contract that they had estimated. Going to be without internet for best part of 3 weeks. Not good when you are studying.

wondered if sky had screwed anyone else?

if a member of staff is reading this, if you can guarantee without fail an engineer will turn up you can still have the contract, failing that release nt address so another can operate it!

looks like my joining date is also my cancellation date. Is this normal practise for sky to not turn up?

@katiep1 It can happen, know one has any idea about what you have or are getting, cancelled now you are free to do as you please.

Does any organisation offer a 'guarantee without fail', particularly in return for £1 to £2 a day in subscription revenue and a very slim profit margin?

Typically what's actually guaranteed is some degree of compensation, which for broadband is covered by the relevant Ofcom scheme for both a missed appointment and delayed activation (although this may not apply now you've cancelled)

Re: Is it Normal for sky to fail to attend for installation?

We have had awful service.

Making a switch already with Sky but upgrading to fibre.  We were assured our old broadband line would continue until fibre was installed.  This was incorrect.  Ordered on 24th June.  They cut the old line on 2 August 2025.  Fibre was due to be installed on 8 August 2025, it was then set back to 1 September and we have today been given a new date of 9 October.  I have no faith this date will be complied with and when they rearrange its the working day before.  Such awful service.

@NLG514 No history to look back on as your first post, are you saying that you had Sky on an old fttc connection and that was stopped before the Fibre upgrade was completed?
