There have been a couple of replies on different threads about the Sky Q box going into Eco mode. Apparently it works as a WiFi booster. I have been having this problem for months and as an insomniac its pretty annoting that I cant get WiFi at night. To be fair I havent turned off the Eco mode on my Qbox, why should I, I pay for WiFi and expect it to be in every part of the house from the router without having the Qbox on all night.
As Sky haven't bothered doing anything about this issue, I do wonder if they even bother reading the comments in their own forums, I am changing internet provider. I am not sure if I will be able to let you know if this works but if I can get back on here when I am no longer a Sky customer I will let you know if it works.

I'm looking into changing provider too. Sjys attitude really makes me angry, they just couldn't care less and won't even give me options to check it or prove its happening. With so many competitors out there not sure why they are so complacent.
Good luck 👍

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@BazFis Q tv boxes do act as Wifi boosters and by default the Q boxes go into a low power mode from 2.30am to 5.45am which powers down their Wifi function if set to the default Eco power saving. This suits the vast majority of users who are asleep and saves a small amount of power and keeps the boxes working properly.
For those of us who are awake between those hours Sky offer 2 options first is none where you control the standby manually or an Active setting which puts the TV box back into normal standby mode after a period. To help clear issues Sky will force the box to reboot as and when necessary which takes 5 minutes you may lose the Wifi for a bit while that happens.
This is not a fault it is by design so will not change. Changing the power saving mode is very easy the setiing is in Settings/Set Up/Preferences.

This is an ongoing problem for us, My wife is a Keyworker with the NHS 111 service, and has about half her shifts as Homeworking mostly Nightshift. The Sky Q connection drops randomly anytime from midnight for at least 3 hours but Doesn't happen every night. When it does happen my wife is forced to drive 45 mins to work (at say 2 am)so she may finish her shift which is a pain in the **bleep**.
I disabled eco mode and it has made no difference to this dropping out randomly only after midnight. Why cant this be fixed, especially when SKY will be increasing my Fiber broadband price in April. We never had our connection dropping out with our other broadband provider EE, before we moved to SKY Q.

You need to turn eco mode off in your settings 🙂

Mines the same and I'm finding it stressful as I have two babies in the house who wake up and the cameras I have for them only use WiFi! I can't check on them if they wake other than going into the room and disturbing them!! Sly please look into this it's becoming very frustrating and stressful. I rely on WiFi also my front door camera goes down too and it then makes me feel less safe.PLEASE SORT IT OUT SKY.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Michell86 you are not talking to Sky by posting in the forum you wil have to call them if you want their help but the first test they will, ask you to do is listed below so try that first..
If you have Sky Q tv boxes then it is probable the camera is using the wifi hotspot one of the boxes is producing. If so check the standby settings on the nearest Q box in Settings/Set up/Preferences as if set to the default eco setting the box goes into deep sleep between 02.30 to 05.45 it wont if set to active or none it is worth making sure all of the TV boxes are on the same setting.. If you lose the camera when you power down the Q TV box that shows the camera is using the tv box's wifi.
The Sky hub has no power saving setting as such so is highly unlikely to be the problem if working duringbthe day. If you are using an app to view your cameras that connects via the internet rather than locally the issue can be due to network maintenance which is unavoidable but is normally only for a few nights every few months. This work is done overnight to inconveience the smallest number of people.

You say this is because of a sky Q box going into idle, I don't have a sky Q box but my phone and shield TV both loose internet connection at 02.05 every night for around 5 minutes, it can't be anything to do with the router

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@m666jaj not quite sure why you say it can't be the router is it because other devices stay connected? If so the issue is local in your home.
If however that is a typo roundabout 2am is when the kit Openreach use to connect most broadband services runs an optimisation routine to maximise the connection speed your router will brefly lose its connection and reconnect a couple of minutes later. This DLM system is totally automatic and can take a couple of weeks to settle and on a few lines it can be active most nights. Nothing you can do to change this.

Are you trying to talk to a server which happens to go offline to do a nightly backup or other maintenance task?
21 Apr 2021 02:19 PM
@ChriseeI was meaning it can't be a sky Q problem because I don't have one but still suffer a connection drop at the same time every night
