After my latest disconnect I had the same issue with speeds being cappedto 37mb despite router speed being 70m. Tried the manual disconnect and reconnect and my download speeds returned to normal. Let's hope it stays that way.

My internet just disconnected again. This is the third time in three days. Line test is coming back clean. My Mum said that she swears there is an Openreach van at the Green cabinet down the road over the last few days.

So Openreach are at a Green Cabinet doing what the engineer calls an uplift for the area. I presume that was my Green cabinet. Any idea what an uplift is?

I think (may be wrong) that its means somebody is being shifted from adsl to vdsl

he said something about rewiring/uplift so i said is it to add more capcity to get more people on and he sort of nodded his head but was difficult to tell as he was frozen 🙂
Have you had any disruptions since Sunday as I had one on Monday eve at appox 10pm and again just now.

Spoke too soon, speeds seem down by about 20Mbps tonight. Something is very wrong with this service all of a sudden. In all of the years I have had sky boradband it has been consistently in the 70Mbps target area but lately it's been down to as low as half of that with no errors detected on the line.

The speeds on mine have been decreasing in the evenings for the last few months. Usually it goes down to 30mb at the lowest from 63mb in the day. The last few nights it has only dropped to about 55mbs which i fine there is congestion. my main concern is disconnections affecting me working from home and the DLM kicking in due to persistent disconnections.

Regarding the working from home - I bought a backup 4g router just in case of sky outage - I have a vodafone mast at the end of the street and can manage 120Mbps from that on 4g+ on a good day.
When it comes to working from home and not using a business line it pays to have a backup solution.
I guess it's possible that the disconnections could be a router fault but I had the same random disconnect that you did on sunday and am on the same exchange so I tend to discount that theory. May be worth asking sky to send you a new one though just in case (if you can get hold of them).

I have to use a business line so 4g would not be an option for me. The Sunday one seems to point to a common issue and the one this morning is potentially explainable as Openreach were working on a cabinety very close. They were there from around 8.30am until around 2.30pm. My Dad said he thinks that they were there on Monday or Tuesday aswell. Going to ask him to look out for them in the morning aswell. The odd one is the Monday evening one as i doubt any work was being done on the line at the time.

Could have been work in the exchange - hard to tell not being familiar with the infrastructure but its not implausable that somebdy was fiddling with line cards at odd hours near Callendar and Bromley road lol.

It's actually very handy to have somebody to talk to on the same exchange and compare notes with btw!

Down to 28Mbps now btw - not acceptable

Yup now back to the absolute 37 Mbps limit again - what is wrong with this service?
