We installed Sky Max hub (replacing our older hub) and since then we have been unable to get the Sky Q mini box to act as a WiFi hot spot

There seems to be some confusion on if the Sky Max hub works with Q mini boxes, see this thread as an example.
Hopefully someone will be along soon with the latest.

The Max Hub can support a main Q box plus a Mini box, but the hotspot functionality for non-Sky devices from the Q television boxes won't be there any more.

Thank you.
After some trouble we managed to get the Sky mini box to 'see' the new WiFi (we did so by following some instructions on the internet on how to connect to non Sky devices). Trouble is the WiFi signal at the mini box is very poor so the mini box does not act as a booster like it did with the old router. Any tips would be v much appreciated.

The Q mesh and hotspot is very old tech now, did you get just the Sky Max hub or also subscribe to Sky WiFi Max?
The latter supplies much newer Sky Wifi pods to create a mesh that would replace the Q hotspot.
Edited to add:
Again there may be some restrictions on getting Sky WiFi Max with Q, but I have a main Q box and one mini and Sky seem happy to offer me the Sky Max hub and the Sky WiFi Max subscription in MySky.
