Hi. The access provider turned up the last day and said they couldn't do anything as the path needs digging up and it's something they don't do. Do I need to get in touch with sky to inform them or will this be dealt with by the access provider?

The engineer should have arranged for a survey to go out and determine the work that is required and then get your permission to carry out the work, once this is done it will be passed to openreach contractors to complete the civil engineering work

once that is done the installation can be rebooked

openreach have 72 working hours to attempt the first step or provide you or sky with an update on timescales
