Hello all, to follow on from my last post i have spent the greater part of today trying to get the installation setup for my new ASUS-DSL AX82U router, i have followed many threads and so far there is still no internet connection.
here are some pictures that may help you with my issue
as you can see i have my broadband cable connected to the WAN port on the Router and as per threads regarding this setup, put in the option 61 string into wan settings,
i have then tried turning everything including the wall off for an hour, and then restarting, and have also tried the inverse of leaving everything on for an hour.
am i missing anything for this installation? Forgive me for inexperience as its my first time dealing with replacing the home router and not having plug and play functionality.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou have your WAN type set to DSL when your using ONT cable connection.
Also Ireland uses PPPoE for authentication not DHCP Option 61

As @jamesn123 pointed out thats a dsl model so you need to change operating mode to wireless router before entering the details above

Excellent so these settings look correct?
>WAN connection type: PPPoE
>802.1.Q enable: No, VLAN ID: 10, 802.1P: 0
>username: anything@skydsl
>password: anything
>PPP authentication: auto
>PPP MTU: 1492
>PPP MRU: 1492
everything else is untouched
should I reboot now?

Those look correct but you need to change operating/operation mode to wireless router. This should be in advanced settings and bypasses the internal dsl modem to allow the fibre ont to deal with the wan

Ok, after that do I need to turn the router and fibre box off for an amount of time or should it just magically work as soon as this is done? Apologies for the many questions but between bad mobile data and a pc failing to mount in the other room my hair is falling off

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIt should work right away as you've had the router unplugged already

Some people advise to switch both of for 1/2 hour

Alright based on both your answers I'll turn everything off including the fibre connector for half an hour or so and then see if it works when switched back on as currently there's no luck.
Just to clarify the special requirements from ISP field should be left blank? (I would send an image but the image button isn't working)
Which has the fields MAC address and the field MTU

Hi all again. Well after just over half an hour I've powered everything up again and still nothing,
if there's anything anyone can advise then I will take it gracefully, I still can't seem to send images on here despite being signed in so I can't show you my settings page for page but anything at all that may help? I do realise I should mention that I skipped upgrading firmware through ASUS and went straight to the Merlin firmware for this router model, I doubt that would have any impact on thing but like it's worth mentioning just incase

I can send over what I had configured on my Asus router when I am home, that may help

That would thank you, also it's not that the photo icon is hidden, it simply doesn't access my photos when tapped, I would like to do this through hotspot on my laptop but of all days for my mobile data to be bad it had to choose today so I can't even get server connections through hotspot

Hi all Again. decided to put the old hub back so that i can at least use the internet a little, and hence i can now send yout photos, here are some screenshots of how my router is configured:
Its worth noting i tried to copy the MAC of my hub for this but it still didnt work with or without that addition, i have also tried setting the WAN type from DSL to WAN as i figured im not using the rj11 DSL port on the router. once again any insight is appreciated to this absolute headache of a process, i will be looking into switching to a less propriority ISP in the future
