I want to move my existing BT voip number to Sky fibre
I am contemplating switching my BT full fibre service to Sky but cannot find an option on the order process which allows me to elect to retain my current VOIP phone number. Any ideas?

@LuD while most landline numbers can be transferred from telcos like BT to Sky if by 'VOIP number" you mean a number used by a third party VOIP provider thst is far less likely. BT's digital voice service like Sky's should be OK but call Sky to check before ordering.

Re: I want to move my existing BT voip number to Sky fibre
My copper pair was replace by full fibre (fttp) about three years ago. I ported my existing land line number to work on a handset that connects to my router wirelessly and responds to the old number.
I would ideally like to retain that number but I can't get an answer from Sky or Virgin as to whether that is possible, hence my question.

@LuD The voip service you have is nothing to do with sky, the service you have with whoever if no line attached then nothing, sky will issue a BB service with a number assigned to that service that you do not even have to use, and your VOIP company will still carry on giving you what you need through there connected voip controller!

Re: I want to move my existing BT voip number to Sky fibre
So, moving my fibre to Sky will leave my VOIP with BT and I will continue with that service there?
Got ya! Thanks!

No, if you transfer from BT you'll have their FTTP & DV phone service, you should be able to transfer the number they provided as they won't be able to continue providing a talk only service.
@JimM1 reply is for a fully independent VOIP service provided by a company such as Vonage, VOIPFone etc who provide a full VOIP phone service and dedicated VOIP handsets/softphone.

Re: I want to move my existing BT voip number to Sky fibre
@LuD See the answer fro GD1, WHO currently has the original BT Number, is it BT or have you PORTED the number to a VOIP service!
If you have BT broadband and you are connected to them and BT own and supply the phone connection, then YOU have NOT ported anything!
BT's version of DV (Digital Voice) is controlled by them, sent via the BT Router and out to your landline phone. If that is the case then when or if you join ANY ISP and they can do Landline service, they will take it all, which may include your number (if they can) but is not a 100% for all case's

Re: I want to move my existing BT voip number to Sky fibre
Thanks! That's exactly what I have so I need to refer to it as DV rather than VOIP to avoid causing confusion.
so if I move to Sky fibre and answer the question as if it is a landline then will that work?
There is no option on Sky fibre order process to move Fibre and DV. It's either Fibre only or Fibre and landline.

Re: I want to move my existing BT voip number to Sky fibre
@LuD Yes sky would be Fibre and Landline, that in theory will mean that the take everything, BUT the phone will and must plug into the back off the sky hub, they do not do the same as BT/EE and have a DVA (digital voice adapter) to let you plug your phone in wherever you wish!
And so not to get caught out the link below is all about sky talk and the cost's involved. You get the line and number for free, everything else if you use the landline then look at the link!
