If you sign up with Sky as a new broadband customer, the minimum contract term is 24 months.

No: an ISP on the Openreach network cannot offer short terms and still make a profit because there are substantial up-front costs to provisioning a circuit.

And if you do take out a 24 month subscription the lead in time to activation is a minimum of 2 weeks.
