I have just moved home and can’t sign up for broadband

Sky broadband is available at my new address, but I am unable to sign up for it as when I try to, I'm met with an error message that says that address already has an account connected to it (with a different email). It suggest I call Sky's helpline that doesn't put me through to anyone as I haven't yet got a contract.  I have checked and the previous tenants have cancelled their contract so I'm not sure what I can do.

I’m not sure exactly (this information came from the landlord who asked them) but it's likely it was in the last month @Highlinder

@BowBells  Have you tried other providers to see if they let you sign up through them and just not Sky?

Yes, @Highlinder TalkTalk have let me sign up but their installation date is much too far in the future

@BowBells  Now far off is it. if it is around a month that would account for the 31 day after a cancel on the line rather than a straight ISP move to another provider which is normally 14 days.

@Highlinder September 5th, but they said it was the earliest an engineer was available (I don't know if this also takes into account what you just mentioned)

@BowBells there is a standard 14 day lead time for any new connection and at this time of year you could easily be waiting a week or so beyond that for Openreach to have a slot available due to holidays. Each area is different and a lot depends on the job required.

@Chrisee if that's the reality then that's ok but I should still be able to sign up via Sky
