I have 3 sky boxes and additional booster however my sons WiFi ping is really bad in their bedrooms

Using the Q mesh and booster will increase ping time (because of the extra hops involved) not decrease it.  As I assume they are concerned about gaming, wired connections by ethernet or Powerline adaptors would be preferable to WiFi.
